Lunch Break

A series in ten frames - an hour borrowed from a weekday, inside a room that would forget us by evening.

SCROLL
A NOTE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHER

She arrived at midday - still composed, still wearing the city on her shoulders.

The room was the kind that has no memory. Quiet, temporary, anonymous in the way only business hotels can manage. White linens, drawn curtains, a key card on the dresser that someone else would use by sundown. The whole choreography of brief disappearance, already half-arranged before either of us walked in.

We had planned for an hour.

What unfolded was quieter and more honest than an hour. The distance between professionalism and vulnerability dissolved slowly, piece by piece - not as a moment of decision, but as an accumulation of very small ones. A blazer left on a chair. A voice going an octave softer. A glance held one beat longer than the last.

There was no spectacle to any of it. No performance. No pivot.

Just two people, briefly subtracted from the structure of the day. A room that would forget us by evening. An afternoon that existed, and then did not.

And perhaps that is what made it unforgettable, in the end. Not the intensity of the moment - but the brevity. The fact that it could only ever have been this long.
